Archer County lies in the north-central Texas oil belt about midway between the eastern and western boundaries of the state and a short distance south of Red River. It is bounded on the north by Wichita County and on the south by Young County, both of which are important producers of oil, coming largely from the same sand and under conditions similar to those in Archer County. Clay County lies on the east and Baylor County on the west. Archer County's center is at 98°30' west longitude and 35°30' north latitude.

What is Hydraulic Fracturing

Hydraulic fracturing carried out by pumping water into the well bore at a sufficient pressure to create and propagate a fracture in the surrounding rock formation down hole. This is crucial in low permeability rock as it exposes more of the formation to the well bore and greater volumes of gas can be produced by the increased surface area. Without hydraulic fracturing the wells would not produce at an economically feasible rate.

Start of Funding on the Hamilton 1-6 well

Lewisville, Texas - May 17, 2010 - Lewisville based Acorn Energy announced the start of development on the new Hamilton Oil wells. Surveys and staking the locations have been completed. The Hamilton l will be located in Olney, Texas in Archer county. The formation type being drilled in is the Gunsite Sands.
